Our STEM KIT Collection has been updated for 2015 Summer Reading Program - Every Hero has a Story!

The kits cover concepts in the fields of science, technology engineering and math. The audience for each kit is clearly marked and range from Preschool to Grade School to Tweens, Teens and Adults and most are appropriate for parent and chlid programming as well.
Each kit includes contents lists, a bibliography of related resource material and program idea sheets.
The Kits can be loaned up to 2 weeks for free to any NORWELD member library. Email a request to Carol Ballard at cballard@norweld.org that includes the Number and Name of the Kit and the dates needed. The dates should include the time needed to preview the contents and to present the program whether it is a scheduled library program or as part of an Experience Zone or Come and Go program in the library. Adult supervision is recommended for use of all kits in the library.
STEM KITS included in the program are:
KIT#1 AND KIT#2 - MEASURE THIS! (Preschool -Kindergarten)
Audience - Preschool - Grade 1. Contents: Bibliography and Program idea sheets. 20 -12 inch rulers, 20 - Measuring Tapes. Books - Inchworm and a half by Elinor J. Pinczes, How Tall How Short How Far Away by David Adler, Inch by Inch by Leo Lionni, Jim and the Beanstalk by Raymond Briggs, Is a Blue Whale the Biggest Thing There Is? by Robert E. Wells.
KIT#3 AND KIT#4 - MAKE A SOUND! (All ages)
Explore the qualities of sound with this kit for all ages. Includes 2 Thunder Tubes, 1 set of Boomwhackers in C Major Diatonic Scale (8) Pieces, 24 palm pipes (3 sets of 8). Includes instructions, a bibliography and program idea sheetes.
KIT#5 AND KIT#6 - IT'S ELECTRIC! (Grade 2 and up)
Grades 2 - Adult. Kit includes 3 sets of Electronic Snap Circuit sets that demonstrate basic principles of electronics. Instructions for over 150 projects are included. All parts snap together and the booklet explains each project. Use with Adult Supervision. Needs 7 "AA" batteries that are not included with the kits. A biliography and program idea sheets are included.
KIT#7 AND KIT#8 - MAGNET KIT (Grade 2 and up)
Grades 2 - Adult. Explore Magnetic forces with this kit that includes instructions for a variety of experiments. Use with Adult Supervision. Includes biography and program idea sheets.
KIT#9 AND KIT#10 - FUN WITH MATH! (Preschool - Grade 5)
Ages 3 - Grade 5. Each kit contains 6 math games to use with small or large groups. Games are Spot It! Numbers and Shapes (ages 3 and up), 7 ATE 9 (Ages 8-adult), Sequence Numbers (ages 7 - adult), Math Vocabulary JINGO - Primary and Math Vocabulary JINGO - Intermediate are Bingo style games to play with a group, SMATH (ages 6 - adult). Each games has instructions on how to play and the kit comes with a bibliography and program idea sheets.
KIT#11 - WHAT COLOR IS IT? (Preschool to Kindergarten)
Preschool to Kindergarten. This kit explores color identification, matching and counting skills. Kit includes 30 Rainbow Peepholes, 2 Liquid Color Blocks, Pengoloo Game and Catch & Count Fishing Game. Includes bibliogrpahy and program idea sheets.
KIT#12 - WACKY WORLD OF SCIENCE! (Grade K and up)
Grades K - 5. This kit explores concepts in polymer science and kinetic energy. Kit includes 4 bags of Kinetic Sand, 4 Zeebees Spin Pop and Catch Toys, 6 Blobz, 4 Hand Boilers, and 2 Water Cube Experiment kits. Kit includes instructions, bibliography and program idea sheets.
KIT#13 - ROBOTS, ROBOTS, ROBOTS! - (Grade 3 - Teens)

Grade 2 and above. Explores the art of color and design. Kit includes one deluxe Spirograph set with instructions, booklist and app list.
