Northstar and Beyond: Digital Literacy in Public Libraries

Digital literacy has been a part of library service since the first public computers were installed nearly 40 years ago. Public health concerns have limited access to both library computers and face-to-face interaction with patrons since 2020. In the meantime, patrons were pushed into situations requiring new levels of digital literacy: working from home, applying for new jobs or new benefits, and supporting online learning for family members.

You can say that our patrons need our help more than ever, but what does that mean for libraries that are already stretched thin? In this recorded webinar, Christine Morris from OPLIN shares a little background about recent trends regarding digital literacy and public libraries and how some Ohio libraries are finding new ways to connect with patrons using resources like Northstar Digital Literacy and other tools.
