Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree from an ALA accredited institution preferred or a Bachelor’s Degree with extensive library experience.
• Excellent technology skills.
• Knowledge of fundamental principles and practices of collection development and maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of standard cataloging procedures within the profession.
• Experience working with MARC bibliographic records.
• Skills at acquisition, processing orientation, statistical and inventory routines.
• Ability to supervise ordering and acquisitions procedures, as well as all physical processing of library materials.
• Familiarity with Workflows and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of library practices and procedures.
• Ability to collaborate will with other departments.
• Ability to maintain an organized workspace.
• Strong verbal, written, presentation, and listening communication skills.
Illustrative Duty Modules:
60% Cataloging Duties:
• Retrieve MARC records from available sources.
• Copy catalog to available records.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
20% Supervisory Duties:
• Supervise the physical processing of all library materials.
• Supervise the unpacking and checking in of all new library materials.
• Supervise the processing of memorial gift books.
• Oversee all linking of records on SEO.
• Oversee the removal of all discarded items from the TLM database.
• Compile and report monthly and yearly statistics as assigned.
15% Information Desk Duties
• Assist patrons in locating appropriate library materials.
• Instruct and assist patrons in the use of public catalogs, databases, tablets, e-readers, and basic Internet operations ie. account log-in, applications & printing.
• Provide in-depth reference and reader’s advisory service to adult and juvenile patrons.
• Assist with daily retrieval of ILL materials for SEO libraries.
• Maintain current knowledge of available sources of information and public demand of reading materials.
5% Programming Duties
• Responsible for planning two to three adult programs per quarter.
